Stop & Stop employees going on strike has definitely put much into perspective in Richmond and surrounding areas. It seems crazy that our town has only one grocery store and that the Richmond store is the most expensive of all the area Stop & Shop stores.

Many taxpayers keep asking other stores, i.e. Dave’s Marketplace, to come to our town, but these stores are unable to obtain enough parking. This seems ludicrous, as there are so many empty businesses in town.

Why can’t our town representatives approach other grocery chains and entice them into coming to our area? Why should we need to drive 20-30 minutes to another store? Also, where does the bus take our senior citizens at Canonchet Cliffs, now that our ONE store is closed? Someone in our respective towns needs to take a hard look at this growing issue.
