I feel compelled as a local Chariho area Republican leader who also serves on the Hopkinton Town Council to note the hard work of Senator Elaine J. Morgan, R-Hopkinton. The local media should give her far more credit than they do.
Morgan is one of five Republicans out of 38 members of the Rhode Island State Senate, and one of only two Republican women members. It seems the local press does not want to report the accomplishments of all on such things as the transportation aid for the Chariho School District.
Sen. Morgan recently received a certificate of appreciation from the Charlestown Town Council that stated: “Be it hereby to all that the Charlestown Town Council hereby offers its’ sincerest appreciation to Senator Elaine J. Morgan In recognition of her support of the Chariho Regional School System through the initiation and passage of two bills — one to fully fund state aid for transportation for regional schools in the amount of $93,145 and one to grant regional schools the municipal rather than the commercial rate for their tipping fee. On June 30, 2019, the budget, including these items, was transmitted by the legislature to the Governor for her signature. The Town of Charlestown extends its very sincerest gratitude for her support in resolving these long term inequities.” This was dated July 8, 2019.
