standing Letters

In her letter titled “Opportunity for community center is exciting” (The Sun, May 29, 2019), Ms. Faith LaBossiere should be remembered for her misrepresentations and broken promises made concerning building that ridiculous second bike track at Ninigret Park. Remember the one that was only supposed to cost $7,000 and ended up costing the taxpayers more than $300,000?

Now the town has a second bike track at Ninigret Park that no one uses. Of course, if Ms. LaBossiere, a bicycling enthusiast, has her way, the taxpayers will be on the hook for several million more dollars to complete the engineering study for constructing a bicycle track all the way to South Kingstown. That’s another one of her lame-brained ideas.

It isn’t any wonder Ms. LaBossiere is excited. She is a charter member of the Charlestown Citizens Alliance (CCA). She knows that if the budget is approved on June 3, the CCA-controlled Town Council can spend the $3 million line item on whatever it wants to spend it on ... perhaps even more engineering studies for a bicycle path from Charlestown to South Kingstown?

The taxpayers and voters of Charlestown would do well to remember that old adage: Fool me once it’s your fault, fool me twice it’s mine!

Vote to reject Charlestown’s budget on June 3!
