This past Saturday evening the 12th annual New Year’s Eve Bonfire took place at Ninigret Park in Charlestown. For the past twelve years, Frank Glista has built a magnificent bonfire symbolizing the end of a year and the beginning of the new year.

The Charlestown Parks and Recreation Department would like to thank Frank for all of his hard work and dedication allowing us to bring families together in the community. We would also like to thank Arnold Lumber for their generous donation of pallets for this event.

We would also like to thank the Town of Charlestown, Fenner Septic, Shoreline Sanitation, Dunkin Donuts, the Charlestown Fire Department, Charlestown Ambulance Corps, Charlestown Police Department and the Charlestown Public Works Department. Without all of those mentioned the bonfire would not be possible.

We look forward to the upcoming year and providing exciting, new programs and events that enrich people’s lives in our community. May the new year bring health, happiness and peace.
