RIPTA will be holding a photo I.D. Clinic on Friday, March 29, for those who would like to purchase no fare or reduced fare passes to use for RIPTA or Flex buses. Low income seniors, 65 and older, and handicapped individuals under the age of 65, may purchase two-year passes for $10 so that they may ride the bus at no additional cost. All other seniors 65 and older and handicapped individuals under 65 may purchase two-year reduced fare passes that will allow them to use the bus for 1/2 fare during non-peak hours. Forms are available in the center office that show what you need to bring for the clinic and what you need to fill out.
The University of Rhode Island sends an individual to the senior center once a month to assist with applying for S.N.A.P. for food stamps. She will be here on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to answer questions about the program and lend assistance.
Joe Mazza, who offers assist to those whose primary language is Italian, will be at the senior center this Thursday at 10:30 a.m. He can assist with pensions, disability claims, Social Security, and other concerns. He also will be back on Thursday, April 11.
Project Outreach of Westerly, sponsored by the VFW and DAV, will be offering assistance on Tuesday, March 19, at 11 a.m. A representative will be available to help with VA disability claims and health benefits. This is a free service available to all veterans.
