It saddens me to see the ‘chicken little’ attitude of the MFD about the Misquamicut bike path. My wife and I retired here from New Haven three years ago and though we are not avid cyclists, we do ride several times a week. This plan for a bike path is imperfect, but is much better than what we now have which is nothing at all. If Westerly is to be forward thinking they should look at the nice things, like Maria’s and the Weekapaug Inn having bicycles for their guests to casually meander through the area. Tourism is a fact of life for our town and efforts to encourage families to bring their bicycles and park their cars for the week should be encouraged. This plan , though imperfect, is better than no plan.
