WESTERLY — Police are seeking to identify a man with a motorcycle who may have fired several shots from a .45-caliber handgun along Bowling Lane on Friday night.
Westerly Police Chief Shawn Lacey said police were called to Bowling Lane in Bradford around 11 p.m. for reports of possible shots fired. Lacey said officers arrived and found a total of five shell casings from a .45-caliber handgun in the roadway in front of a home at 109 Bowling Lane.
“At this time, there are no known victims or injuries,” Lacey said. “We have a couple people that have been identified for questioning and the case is still very much active.”
There was no visible damage in the area, Lacey said. Homeowners at 109 Bowling Lane indicated to officers that a white man who was driving a motorcycle may have been involved. Lacey said those at the home did not provide any additional assistance, however, and were unable to make a clear ID.
Officers checked with area hospitals to see whether there were any shooting victims who had come in, but Lacey said the checks turned negative results. Lacey said there was no further information to release as of Monday afternoon.
Anyone with information or who could potentially identify the suspect should contact the Westerly Police Department at 401-596-2022.
