PROVIDENCE — The Department of Environmental Management will hold a public hearing on Wednesday at 10 a.m. to discuss two proposed sets of regulations on climate resiliency funding.

The hearing will be held at DEM headquarters at 235 Promenade St., in room 300. The hearing will provide an opportunity for public comment as part of the rule-making process.

The draft regulations create two funds related to climate resilience to receive, hold, and administer the $10 million portion of the 2018 Rhode Island Green Economy and Clean Water Bond for climate resilience projects. The first set of proposed regulations is for $5 million in bond funding specifically for wastewater treatment facility resilience projects.

The second set of proposed regulations is for the $5 million in bond funding for other resilience projects such as the removal/relocation/redesign of infrastructure or nature-based solutions.

Copies of the proposed regulations will be available at the hearing.

Comments on the regulations for the bond funding for wastewater treatment facility resilience projects should be sent via hard copy to: Bill Patenaude, Department of Environmental Management, Office of Water Resources, 235 Promenade St., 2nd Floor Providence, RI 02908 or email them to bill.patenaude@dem.ri.gov.
