WESTERLY — Residents in the area of the Tower Street and Apache Drive neighborhoods were left without electricity for a short time Monday afternoon when officials said a car crashed into a utility pole near the Tower Street School.
The crash, which was considered to be minor in nature, involved a car striking a utility pole head-on. No serious injuries were reported.
The crash caused significant damage to the pole and electric utilities, according to National Grid, causing an outage for about an hour for those in the area. The company reported that, as of 4 p.m., all customers were back in service and there were no outages to report in the Westerly area.
