WESTERLY — Members of a Westerly High School business marketing class and the school's Future Business Leaders of America chapter are  pushing to get their annual Turkey Day T-shirt on the backs of hundreds.

The marketing effort involved posters, a social media blitz, and visits to Westerly Middle School and each of the town's three elementary schools, said Nicholas Fusaro, a member of the 2020 graduating class. The T-shirt promotion has also been part of the morning announcements at the schools.

The Turkey Day design was developed by members of the high school's printmaking class, and they also handled the screen-printing work.

The shirts will be available at the annual Thanksgiving Day football contest between Westerly High School and Stonington High School. Kickoff is scheduled for Thursday morning at 10 at Donald E. Palmer Field in Stonington. These are the prices and styles: $18 long-sleeve blue; $15 short-sleeve blue; $16 long-sleeve white; and $10 short-sleeve white.

The Future Business Leaders club, which has about 25 student members, uses profits from sales of the shirts for field trips and scholarships, according to Fusaro. About 370 shirts had been sold as of Monday afternoon. Close to 500 shirts were sold last year.
