STONINGTON — Two package stores and a bar have been referred to the state Liquor Control Commission after they were cited for selling alcohol to a minor during a compliance check conducted last week through the Stonington Police Department.
Police Capt. Todd Olson said liquor stores, bars and restaurants were checked on June 27, but did not say how many. Officials cited the staff at Tate's Package Store on Liberty Street and Windjammer Wine and Spirits on Williams Road with sale of alcohol to a minor. Talli Angels at 98 W. Broad St. in Pawcatuck was cited with two counts of sale of alcohol to a minor and administrative violations.
"These efforts were specifically targeting the sale of alcohol to minors," Olson said. The checks were done in partnership with the Department of Consumer Protection's liquor division, and the businesses or personnel face possible disciplinary action, including fines.
Olson said the town would continue to conduct periodic, unannounced checks through the summer.
