MYSTIC — The Stonington Land Trust will lead a hike through Old Mystic Ridge, the trust’s most recent land acquisition, on Saturday, July 27.

The group will meet at the trailhead on Benjamin Stanton Pentway at 1 p.m. Joe Ciriello, an Appalachain Mountain Club trail volunteer, will guide the walk along with naturalist Bruce Fellman.

The preserve features unusual scenery, including unique vertical ledges that rise 60 feet above the trail and are capped with glacial erratics, providing outcroppings and crevices for nesting birds and other small animals. Historic stone walls are located throughout the preserve, as well as an old quarry and two footbridges

The hike is best suited for ages 8 and up. Sturdy footgear and tick repellent are recommended.

The walk is free. For more information, visit stoningtonlandtrust.com.
