STONINGTON — Firefighters and medics assisted a man after officials said he fell off a seawall near the intersection of Omega and Hancox streets in Stonington Borough on Sunday evening.

Stonington Borough firefighters, a rescue team from the Old Mystic Fire Department and personnel with Stonington Ambulance were called to the borough around 7:10 p.m. after receiving a call from a School Street resident reporting that a man had fallen off the sea wall and into the water.

Officials said first responders arrived to find the man, who was not identified, had fallen from the wall onto a strip of land in front of the water and suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening. He was conscious and on land when first responders arrived, but was treated for injuries and later assisted from beside the wall.

Firefighters were cleared from the scene in under an hour. Further information was not available Sunday night.
