STONINGTON — A Griswold man and Pawcatuck resident are facing charges after the police said each was found to be driving under the influence during separate crashes within the past week.
Stonington police charged the two drivers following crashes that occurred Thursday afternoon and Sunday morning, according to police reports. Both men, 44-year-old Elton Thomas Kondratowicz and 39-year-old Aaron D. Kyle, were charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive to the right.
Stonington police charged Kondratowicz, of Griswold, Thursday afternoon following a crash that occurred along Lantern Hill Road. According to police, he was driving north around 3:20 p.m. and left the roadway, striking a utility pole and damaging both the pole and car. The police said Kondratowicz was not injured in the crash.
He was given a field sobriety test, which he failed, and was taken into custody without incident.
The police arrested Kyle, of 508 Greenhaven Road in Pawcatuck, early Sunday morning following a crash along Mechanic Street. The police said around 2:10 a.m., he veered off Mechanic Street and struck a fence in front of home, causing minor damage.
The police spoke with Kyle, who showed signs of intoxication. He failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody, the police said.
Both were released and are expected to appear for arraignment in New London Superior Court later this month.
