STONINGTON — A community open house at the West Broad Street School building, sponsored by the Stonington Facilities Committee, will be held Sunday from noon to 2 p.m.

As with previous open houses at the school, index cards will be available for residents to record their West Broad Street School memories, as well as their thoughts regarding what they would like to see happen (or not happen) to the former school, which closed this year.

The Stonington School District Central Office is scheduled to vacate its Old Mystic site in September, and the facilities committee has been assigned to study all possible options for both the old school and the central office. That includes an analysis of reuse, repurposing, sale, leasing or any other possibility for both properties.

The committee is providing the Board of Selectmen with an analysis of options, with as much supporting data as possible. It recently recommended that the town look at the possibility of  leasing the 120-year-old building to St. Michael School of Pawcatuck.
