Filippi announces candidacy for third House term from 36th District

State Rep. Blake A. Filippi, R-Block Island, announced Monday that he will seek re-election to the House District 36 seat serving Block Island, Charlestown, South Kingstown and Westerly.

Filippi is a resident of Block Island and Charlestown, a small-business owner, farmer and lawyer. He serves on the House committees on Judiciary, Oversight, Municipal Government and as vice-chairman of the House Commission to Study Methods for Growing Tourism in the State of Rhode Island.

He was elected in 2014, and was chosen as minority whip of the House of Representatives by the Republican caucus in 2016.
