PAWCATUCK — Davis-Standard LLC announced Wednesday that it has acquired Thermoforming Systems LLC of Yakima, Washington. TSL designs, manufacturers and markets thermoforming equipment for the North American food packaging industry. Terms were not disclosed.
Thermoforming is the process of heating plastic sheets or film and molding them into products. In the food industry, thin-gauge plastics are used to make cups, food service containers, trays, clamshells and other packaging items. Thermoforming Systems, a small privately held company, manufactures formers, presses, rotary melt-to-mold systems, foam sheet offset printers and other equipment used in these production processes.
“TSL is the market leader in thermoforming equipment technology for high volume packaging and we are excited to welcome their dedicated team to Davis-Standard today,” Jim Murphy, Davis-Standard president and CEO, said in a press release. Murphy added “We are enthusiastic about this opportunity with TSL, as we share core values and a focus on our customers, technology and product innovation.”
James Naughton, who has been president of Thermoforming Systems since 2006, said that Davis-Standard was its preferred partner. “We are very pleased to join an organization that shares our business principles, and together with Davis-Standard, TSL looks to deepen its commitment to our customers and employees.”
Davis-Standard, based in Pawcatuck, is a global leader in the design, development and distribution of extrusion and converting technology. It has more than 1,300 employees worldwide.
