HOPKINTON — State police are continuing an investigation into a Sunday night crash along Interstate 95 South that left a 35-year-old Hope Valley resident with serious injuries.

State troopers, Hope Valley-Wyoming firefighters and Hope Valley Ambulance were called to I-95 in the area of Exit 2 just before 9 p.m. for reports of a rollover. When officials arrived, the car was heavily damaged and had come to a rest at the bottom of an embankment just off the highway.

According to the Rhode Island State Police, the driver was alone in the car and trying to enter the Exit 2 off-ramp when the car went out of control around a curve, causing it to go up an embankment, where it hit a tree.

The driver was taken to Rhode Island Hospital. The driver's identity and current condition were not released.

State police said Wednesday that the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
