HOPKINTON — The Hope Valley-Wyoming Fire Department will hold an open house and touch-a-truck event Thursday that is geared for children and families during school vacation week.

The event is part of national volunteer month. The open house will include station tours, firetruck rides, free fire prevention materials, a junior firefighter obstacle course, and opportunities to get a firsthand look at firetrucks and an ambulance. Sparky the Fire Dog will also make an appearance, officials said.

The event is free and will run from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Hope Valley Fire Station, 996 Main St., Hope Valley. For more information, visit the department's Facebook page at facebook.com/HVWFD.
