GROTON — A crash on Interstate 95 South left two people with minor injuries and caused traffic delays for more than an hour on Thursday. Emergency responders were dispatched shortly after 12:15 p.m. to the area between Exits 89 and 88 for an eight-vehicle crash. By the time responders arrived, everyone was out of the cars. Officials said two people were complaining of chest pain caused by airbags.
The left two lanes of the highway were closed, leaving only the right lane open, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation. Shortly after the first crash, a separate rollover incident occurred involving one car on I-95 North. The car was trying to leave the highway at Exit 89 when it went out of control, police said. No injuries were reported.
