STONINGTON — An 18-year-old Pawcatuck man has been charged after police said a local woman found him in bed with her 13-year-old daughter on Monday morning.

Stonington police arrested the man, Anthony Robert Cross, of 66 Greenhaven Road, with two counts of second-degree sexual assault and three counts of risk of injury to a minor. He was held overnight and taken to New London Superior Court for arraignment on Tuesday.

According to police reports, officers were called to the Brookside Village Apartments off South Broad Street around 10:15 a.m. The police said the girl's mother  reported that she had just found Cross in her daughter's bedroom and wished to press charges.

The police said they took statements from the pair and found that Cross "had spent most of the overnight hours in the 13-year-old female's bedroom."

The police said further investigation revealed that on at least two occasions in the last three weeks, Cross and the teenager had engaged in sexual activity in violation of state law.
