RICHMOND — An Ohio man was arrested Tuesday on a felony gun charge after a Richmond patrolman spotted a loaded .38-caliber revolver in the area of his front passenger seat, the police reported.

The man, Michael E. McDonnell, 53, of Dayton, was charged with with carrying a pistol / revolver without a license or permit.

The police said Patrolman Michael Ellis was conducting a property check of the Wood River Cemetery on Nooseneck Hill Road (Route 3) at about 2:40 a.m. when he "located a suspicious vehicle parked and occupied" by McDonnell. The officer saw the gun while checking on his well-being, and McDonnell was arrested by Ellis and Cpl. Daniel Kelley, the police said in a press release on Saturday.

McDonnell was processed at the Richmond Police Station and was arraigned Wednesday in 4th Division District Court, where he was released on $10,000 personal recognizance.
