STONINGTON — Two men were arrested after a domestic dispute in Mystic ended in a stabbing on Tuesday night.
Stonington police reported that both men, Paul H. Derderian, 20, of 7 School St., Mystic, and Corey J. Novak, 53, of 239 Flanders Road, Stonington, were charged with second-degree breach of peace. Derderian was also charged with one count of second-degree assault as a result of the stabbing.
A police report said the men were arguing at Derderian's home shortly after 8 p.m., when the dispute turned physical. According to police, Novak grabbed Derderian by the throat, and he responded by grabbing a knife and stabbing Novak in the shoulder.
The police report indicated that Novak suffered a laceration and was taken to a nearby hospital. The injury was not life-threatening and he was treated and released, the police report said. Derderian did not have any visible injuries.
Derderian was released after posting a $10,000 non-surety bond,and Novak was released on a promise to appear. Both men were scheduled to appear for arraignment Wednesday in New London Superior Court.
