NORTH STONINGTON — A motorcycle driver was killed and a second person injured on Sunday evening when they crashed along the high-speed lane of Interstate 95 South.
State police, local firefighters and ambulance personnel were called to I-95 between exits 93 and 92 around 7:30 p.m. for reports of a crash containing serious injuries. Responders who first arrived on scene immediately confirmed that one of the two motorcyclists was dead. Officials have confirmed that a second motorcyclist was also injured in the crash and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Further details of the crash were not released Sunday evening. The names of those involved have not been released.
The crash brought traffic along the highway to a stop and led police to close the southbound side of the highway at exit 93 for several hours.
An accident reconstruction team with the Connecticut State Police was called following medical response. State police are continuing to investigate.
