RICHMOND — A Hopkinton teenager was arrested on drug charges and referred to Rhode Island Family Court after the police stopped him for speeding on July 23, according to a Richmond Police Department press release.

A Richmond police sergeant stopped the 17-year-old boy on Pine Hill Road at around 9 p.m. During the stop, the police seized "over one ounce of marijuana," the police said. He was charged with possession of over an ounce of marijuana and possession with the intent to deliver.

The police said he "possessed items commonly associated with the distribution and sales of such drugs." He was released into the custody of a guardian.
