RICHMOND — Richmond police said nine people were arrested for alcohol offenses last month during the  Washington County Fair — the fewest number of arrests in a five years.

Seven people were cited for public drinking,  and two, ages 19 and 20, were cited with possession of alcohol by a minor. All charges are considered to be misdemeanor offenses under Rhode Island state law. Town ordinance prohibits public consumption of alcohol. Officers charged 16 people with misdemeanor or felony offenses in 2018, 25 in 2017, and 22 people during the 2016 event.
