Easy Chair - Alana Rader on Thursday, November 15, 2018. Harold Hanka, The Westerly Sun

AGE: A lady never tells.

OCCUPATION: Actor/director/teaching artist.

RESIDENCE: Brooklyn and Westerly (part-time.)

BORN, RAISED & GREW UP IN: Rural Pennsylvania.

RIGHT NOW I’M IN THE MIDDLE OF: Directing “Our Town” at Westerly High School which opens Friday night.

I ENJOY SPENDING MY TIME: Reading, writing, playing with my rescue dog, Peanut Butter and, of course, going to the theatre!

MY PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT: Helping to cultivate empathy and communication through my teaching and art.

I’D LIKE TO BE REMEMBERED FOR: Playing some incredible characters, telling stories, and being kind.

TOP ON MY BUCKET LIST: Travel the world!

ALWAYS IN MY POCKET: I often don’t have pockets because I love dresses, but I usually try to carry a journal with me at all times.

WHAT I WANTED TO BE WHEN I GREW UP: Always an actor but I did go through a brief phase during which I wanted to be a newscaster.

PERSON WHO HAS INFLUENCED ME THE MOST: My Grandad, LeRohn Deysher, who passed earlier this year. He was a WWII vet, and taught me how to play the trumpet. He sounded Taps for fallen vets, playing almost 4,000 military funerals in his lifetime. He made a life of service through his art and music which I, too, aspire to do. He was also an incredible baker!

FAVORITE AUTHOR: Hanya Yanagihara.

BOOKS ON MY NIGHT STAND: "Big Magic," by Elizabeth Gilbert and Hemingway’s "A Moveable Feast" and many others.

I AM LISTENING TO: Sara Bareilles’s "Waitress" cast recording recently ... I’m a big musical theatre nerd so I’ve been really into it.

FAVORITE MOVIE: "Amelie."

LAST MOVIE WATCHED: "A Star is Born."

FAVORITE TV SHOWS: "Newsroom," and most recently, "Sharp Objects."

FAVORITE SONG: "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square."

FAVORITE COMFORT FOOD: Mexican - all of the guacamole!

SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES I USE MOSTLY: Facebook and Instagram - follow @colonialtheatreshakespeare for fun Our Town pics!

TRAIT I MOST ADMIRE: Honesty.

PET PEEVE: When people flake out on plans at the last minute or don’t follow through.

FAVORITE QUOTATION: “What you seek is seeking you.”-Rumi

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT OUR LITTLE CORNER OF THE WORLD: The beautiful Autumnal foliage

CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT: Peanut butter! (The food and my dog)

LITTLE KNOWN FACT ABOUT ME: I’m a third generation trumpet player

BEST ADVICE I EVER RECEIVED: When someone says something unkind to you, it usually has more to do with them than you.

ADVICE I BEST LIKE TO GIVE: Only worry about what you can control.

IF I RULED THE WORLD I WOULD: Make sure everyone had access to the arts and arts education. Art can heal the world if we let it.

IF I WON THE LOTTERY, THE FIRST THING I WOULD DO IS: Buy my parents a vacation house.

I DRIVE A: I don’t own a car yet!

I WISH I DROVE A: Something energy efficient and blue.

ALWAYS IN MY FRIDGE: Almond milk, spinach and hummus.

IF I COULD HOST A DINNER PARTY WITH A GROUP OF PEOPLE FROM THE PAST, PRESENT OR FUTURE, I WOULD INVITE: Bernadette Peters, Stephen Sondheim, G. B. Shaw and Judy Garland.
