BORN, RAISED & GREW UP IN: Born in Pittsfield, Mass., raised in Richmond, Mass., a tiny town in the Berkshires. My mother still lives in my childhood home.

RIGHT NOW I’M IN THE MIDDLE OF:  About a million things.

I ENJOY SPENDING MY TIME: Snuggling my dog, reading, watching TV, and being involved in local politics and community activities.

MY PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT: Hmmm. I think it’s a tie between raising my children and launching my own business five years ago after being laid off from Patch.com

I’D LIKE TO BE REMEMBERED FOR: Always being willing to help, and hopefully for having a great sense of humor.

TOP ON MY BUCKET LIST:  The concept of a “bucket list” sort of creeps me out – but I would like to visit Alaska. And also see all the big animals in Africa.

WHAT I WANTED TO BE WHEN I GREW UP:  I wanted to be a storyteller. Both my parents were journalists and writers, and I was always interested in learning other people’s stories and then being able to tell them in a relatable way. Over the course of my 30-year journalism career, I am most proud of all the different people’s stories I was able to share with the public. 

PERSON WHO HAS INFLUENCED ME THE MOST:  I think that’s a tie between my mother and my father. My father’s love of the arts and his amazing sense of humor were a huge influence on me. But my mother was a woman who accomplished so many firsts – first female police reporter at the Berkshire Eagle back in the 1950s, first female selectwoman in our town (and maybe our county) … plus always being a working mother. She really showed me by example how to achieve what you want while still taking care of others, and the importance of advocating for yourself and for others.

FAVORITE AUTHOR: Well that’s not a fair question in my family! My father had 14 published novels, my mother is a published cookbook author and novelist, and my sister has written four books!

BOOKS ON MY NIGHT STAND: Right now I’m reading my new favorite detective writer, Robert Crais’ ‘Demolition Angel,’ and I also have “Shade” by Pete Souza (Obama’s official photographer for either years) and Bob Woodward’s “Fear.”            

I AM LISTENING TO: The new season of “Serial” podcast, which is SO GOOD and so timely – a deep dive into the criminal justice system in Cleveland, Ohio. This is the modern version of longform investigative journalism – they spent a year in the court system in Cleveland. Upsetting and eye-opening. I also listen to “This American Life,” and “Stay Tuned with Preet Bharara,” the US attorney who was fired by Trump at the start of the administration. Fascinating insights into what’s happening in the country from a legal standpoint.

FAVORITE MOVIE: My favorite movie of all time is “To Kill A Mockingbird.” I will cry right now if you say “Miss Jean Louise, stand up. Your father’s passing.”

LAST MOVIE WATCHED: Spike Lee’s “BlacKkKlansman,” although I have date for “A Star Is Born” this week.

FAVORITE TV SHOW:  “Grey’s Anatomy.”

FAVORITE SONG: Sinatra, “The Way You Look Tonight.”

FAVORITE COMFORT FOOD: Mashed potatoes

SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES I USE MOSTLY: Well, since it’s my living, all of them, but I am personally very active on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

TRAIT I MOST ADMIRE: Patience.

PET PEEVE:  That’s a long list! I’m going to have to go with people who don’t cover their mouths when they cough/sneeze/do disgusting things … because I am a huge germaphobe.

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT OUR LITTLE CORNER OF THE WORLD: The beach! We are so lucky. My children have no idea the blessed childhood they have had – riding their bikes to the beach, surfing, hanging out. I was raised in the Berkshire mountains, but I am a beach girl through and through.

CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT:  My dog, Jada, a rescued pit bull. And coffee. And my friends. And the fresh margarita from Milagro’s.   

LITTLE KNOWN FACT ABOUT ME: Ha! I have no secrets. 

BEST ADVICE I EVER RECEIVED: I have a temper. And my father used to counsel me, “The hotter they get, the cooler you get.” It has taken me decades to embrace that advice, and sometimes these days it sure is a struggle, but it’s great advice.

ADVICE I BEST LIKE TO GIVE:  Advocate for yourself, no one else will.

IF I RULED THE WORLD I WOULD: Oh my. Make sure all the children were safe. 

IF I WON THE LOTTERY, THE FIRST THING I WOULD DO IS: Buy a huge farm somewhere and rescue ALL the dogs.

I DRIVE A: Gray Subaru Forester. I have no idea what year it is.

I WISH I DROVE A:  Subaru Forester. I love that car!

ALWAYS IN MY FRIDGE: Bacon.

IF I COULD HOST A DINNER PARTY WITH A GROUP OF PEOPLE FROM THE PAST, PRESENT OR FUTURE, I WOULD INVITE: Princess Diana, Madonna, Barack and Michelle Obama, Mel Brooks, and Judy Blume.
