MYSTIC — Mystic Fire Chief Frank “Fritz” Hilbert will be the grand marshal of the 2019 Mystic Irish Parade.

 Hilbert has served as Mystic Fire Chief for 30 of his 48 years as a firefighter. He is a member of the executive board of the Connecticut State Firefighters Association, where he has served as president. He is also the commissioner of fire prevention and control for the Connecticut Fire Academy.

Fire Chief Frank Hilbert has dedicated his life to protecting our community,” said Neil Ryan, vice president of the Mystic Irish Parade Foundatio. “The Mystic Parade is excited to feature someone who is an essential supporter of the community as this year's grand marshal.”

The parade will step off from Mystic Seaport at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 24.

“The Mystic Irish Parade is one of the biggest events Mystic has to offer, and I am excited to be participating as Grand Marshal,” Hilbert said. in a statement. “It’s a great opportunity to be a part of one of the events that make our community such a great place to live in.”
