Dear Wendy Carr,
I so admire your strength and clear-headedness in this “controversy.” My representative in Hopkinton chose to react to an image that she clearly did not understand. I worked in the restaurant business as a teen and in my 20’s. Even I know that “86” in restaurant lingo means you can “no longer offer this,” or “we are out of this.” The fact that she chose to use this as “mob lingo” is simply beyond me. You are a restaurant, using restaurant lingo.
As you are well aware, Ms. Morgan called for a boycott of your restaurant. Now I’m no Republican, but this seems counter-intuitive to actively diminish small businesses while aligning herself to the GOP platform. In the “bluest of the blue” states, it appears that she is trying to make a name for herself. And that she did. As I saw her name on USA Today, Telemundo, and Fox News. I am still wondering why she took it upon herself to attack another district’s “problem,” as opposed to speaking directly with Westerly’s local senator.
What Ms. Morgan may not realize is that through her bullying tactics, it has worked against her, as she has encouraged many people to patronize your restaurant. I know that I had 2 of the best chimichangas I have had in years last night. Garnished with beets, even my teenage daughter ate them.
I have known Elaine for a number of years. Our kids go to school together. I remember when she took hold of the elementary school contact list and started sending me emails regarding her agenda. I remember when she referred to Syrian refugees: The Muslim religion and philosophy is to murder, rape, and decapitate anyone who is a non-Muslim. If we need to take these people in we should set up a refugee camp to keep them segregated from our populous.”
I remember when she (publicly) reacted to what she perceived as “revisionist history” regarding the driver in the Charlottesville Rally in North Carolina. I also remember a child’s birthday party that she and I attended, and she showed me the gun on her hip as we both drank cocktails.
Wendy. Run a restaurant. Sell food. You are correct to ignore Sen. Morgan. As for me, I will not forget, and will continue to convince others to vote against her.
