NORTH KINGSTOWN —The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will headline the 2020 Open House Air Show at the Quonset Air National Guard Base on June 20 and 21. The show had originally been scheduled for June 27 and 28, but was changed to accommodate the Thunderbirds. Because of the date change, the F-22 Raptor Demo Team will not be part of the show.

The Thunderbirds have served as the Air Force’s premier air demonstration squadron since 1953. They perform in six F-16C Fighting Falcons and two F-16D Fighting Falcons, based out of Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas. While the Thunderbirds are primarily an aerial demonstration team, they are part of the Air Force's combat forces and can be integrated into an operational fighter unit if needed.
