CHARLESTOWN — Twenty-six women volunteers from South County Habitat for Humanity and the state chapter of the National Association of Women In Construction, along with state Rep. Teresa Tanzi, D-Wakefield, gathered together Thursday in recognition of International Women’s Day and Habitat’s Women Build Day, to help renovate two homes here.
One group of women volunteers spent the day installing drywall in a house that is being renovated by Habitat, while the other group were at a different site painting rooms throughout the house.
"Over the last 12 years, our women’s crew of volunteers have participated in Habitat’s national Women Build Day. We were so pleased to have a group of women from Women In Construction join us this year”, said Colin Penney, executive director at South County Habitat, in a news release. "Together, this group of powerful women accomplished a tremendous amount of work in just one day, helping two future families in their quest for decent and affordable housing here in South County."
