WESTERLY — The board of directors of Washington Trust Bancorp Inc.  has declared a quarterly dividend of 47 cents per share for the quarter ending Dec. 31. The declaration this week was a 4-cent-per-share increase in the quarterly rate, and the company's second dividend increase in 2018. The previous increase was 4 cents per share for the first quarter. The dividend will be paid Jan. 11, to shareholders of record on Jan. 2, 2019.

With the latest increase, the regional bank's annual dividend is $1.88, yielding 3.9 percent at the stock's current price of $48.28 as of the close of trading on Friday. The shares are moving up from the low end of their 52-week range ($46.25 — $63.25), and the corporation's current market capitalization is $831 million.
