WESTERLY — Dennis L. Algiere has been promoted to executive vice president, chief compliance officer, and director of community affairs at the Washington Trust Company.
Algiere, 58, joined the bank in 1995 and was named vice president, compliance, a year later; his latest title, since 2004, had been senior vice president. He is responsible for ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. He also oversees the bank's security department, purchasing department, and buildings and facilities department.
A Westerly resident, he was elected to the state Senate in 2003 and serves as Senate minority leader. He is a graduate of Providence College, holds a master's degree from Northeastern University, and graduated from the University of Massachusetts School of Law. He has been active in numerous community organizations and fundraising campaigns, and also serves on the government relations council of the American Bankers Association.
