PAWCATUCK — Davis-Standard has announced that its Pawcatuck facility recently became ISO 9001:2015 certified. ISO is the International Organization for Standardization, based in Geneva, Switzerland. The organization promotes industrial and commercial standards worldwide as a way to ensure that products and services are safe, reliable, and of good quality. The 9001:2015 standard sets out the criteria for quality management systems (other standards are ISO 22000, for food management, or ISO 13485, medical devices, and so on).

During the process, the company’s quality management systems are evaluated by a industry expert, a client manager who evaluates the company’s operations and determines whether they meet ISO standards. Companies that qualify for certification also undergo regular monitoring of their quality management systems to assure continual improvement.

Mike Newhall, operations vice president at the company, said the exercise had improved all aspects of the business: “This encompasses everything from how we on-board employees and review customer specifications to our engineering and manufacturing practices. There is no stone left unturned, which results in an improved capacity to achieve customer expectations each and every time.”
