Westerly and Charlestown to host child safety seat clinics

Upgrading or installing a new child seat for a vehicle? Installing one for the first time? Westerly and Charlestown police will be available to help in the coming weeks.

The Westerly Police Department will host separate child safety seat clinics over each of the next three weeks at several locations in town. Charlestown police are hosting a clinic on Sept. 13 as part of a back-to-school public service effort for the community.

At each event, parents and caregivers are encouraged to bring their child safety seat for installation or review. Certified officers will be on hand to answer questions, check for recalls and assist in making sure the seat is properly installed.

Westerly events will be held on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Westerly Walmart; on Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Inneractive Indoor Children’s Activity Center on Franklin Street; and during the Dunn’s Corners Fire Department open house on Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Charlestown event will be held next Thursday, Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at South County Community Action on South County Road.

All events are free of charge and services are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.
