On Saturday, Nov. 3, the Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and their families will collect food for their annual “Scouting for Food” drive, a service project of the Boy Scouts of America. This is the 31st annual food drive of the Scouts’ Narragansett Counci. It assists families throughout Rhode Island and Southern New England. All of the food collected in Washington County and Pawcatuck stays local.
Donors who received a tag should place nutritious, nonperishable, non-expired food items, preferably in non-glass containers, in a bag or box outside their front door by 9 a.m. on Saturday. Appropriate items include canned goods including fruits, vegetables, soups, tuna, rice, beans, pasta, cereals and peanut butter.
Anyone who wants to donate, but did not receive a tag, can drop food off on Saturday after 9 a.m., at the Jonnycake Center Westerly, RICAN food pantry in Charlestown, New Hope Chapel in Richmond, and Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center. Donors are asked to bring donations to these sites by 11 a.m.
