Westerly Sun Podcast

You’re listening to the Westerly Sun’s podcast, where we talk about the best local events, new job postings, obituaries, and more.

First, a bit of Rhode Island history. Today’s history update is brought to you by Perennial.

Perennial’s new plant-based drink “Daily Gut & Brain” is a blend of easily digestible nutrients crafted for gut and brain health. A convenient mini-meal, Daily Gut & Brain” is available now at the CVS Pharmacy in Wakefield.

Now for some history. In 2012 Rhode Island became the first state to enact a Homeless Bill of Rights. This guarenteed homeless people’s right to equal access to jobs, housing, and services, and banned discrimination on the basis of housing status.

Tune in again tomorrow for another bit of Rhode Island history!

Now for some events.

Don’t forget, it’s Wednesday, which means the Ocean House at Watch Hill is hosting The Taco Shack - featuring tacos and cocktails made with tito's vodka. Kicks off at 6 p.m., don’t be late!

There’s also the Yoga class at duBois Beach we mentioned yesterday, starting at 5:30 p.m.

For the kids 18 and under Summer Tennis at Rotary Park on Airport road is happening tomorrow, and every Tuesday and Thursday. For 6-8 year olds class starts at 8:00am, for 9-11 year olds it’s at 9:00am, and for 12-18 year olds class is at 10:00am.

Looking for a new gig? We’re here to help. Today’s Job posting comes from The Frank Olean Center in Westerly. They’re looking for an enthusiastic, energetic, go-getter who is very familiar with local entertainment and venues to join as their new Events Coordinator. Today we’re remembering the life of Richard Vernon Nossek [NAH-sik], of Stonington. Rich is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Carole, and his two beautiful children. Rich was an All-American man and his family meant everything to him. He was incredibly accomplished and also honorable, honest, selfless, and generous. He loved the simple things like grilling, and cooking gourmet Thanksgiving dinners. He was a thinker and strategist, and a walking encyclopedia of sports knowledge. Thank you for taking a moment with us to remember and celebrate Richard’s life.

That’s it for today, we’ll be back next time with more! Also, remember to check out our sponsor Perennial, Daily Gut & Brain, available at the CVS on Main St. in Wakefield!
