First Baptist Church of North Stonington

The Thanksgiving Ecumenical Service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 7 p.m. at the church. Rev. Tom Vance of the First Baptist Church, Rev. Sue Latourette of North Stonington Congregational Church, the Most Rev. Dennis Perkins of St. Thomas More Catholic Church will officiate the service together. Second Baptist Church of North Stonington

NORTH STONINGTON — Second Baptist Church of North Stonington, 12 Stillman Road, is an independent, conservative, evangelical Baptist church. It is a Bible-based church with practical preaching and teaching for all ages.

Sunday service will be held at 10 a.m. at the church. Guest speaker William Schmauder will share the message titled “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” from John 15:9-17. Grades one to five will be dismissed prior to the message. The message may be viewed at

In lieu of the regular Sunday evening service at 6 p.m., the Deacons have called for an all-church prayer meeting to focus prayers on the church’s search for a new pastor. Regular service will resume next Sunday evening.

Adult Bible study will be held in Fellowship Hall at the rear of the church on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. Pastor Dave will lead the group in a study of prayer. The new study is titled “A Survey of Scriptures”; Ladies Bible Study will be meeting in the Pastor’s study. Olympian Club will start at 5:30 p.m. for children age four through grade six and Junior/Senior High Youth Group begins at 6 p.m.

Central Baptist Church

WESTERLY — An in-person worship service will be held on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Dr. Cal Lord's sermon will be "More than Enough." The scripture will be from Exodus 36:1-7. The church will celebrate the 75th anniversary of its founding at the worship service, including a service of believer's baptism and a family dedication ceremony. Historical moments will be lifted up throughout the morning.

Congregational Church of North Stonington

NORTH STONINGTON — The Congregational Church of North Stonington will offer in-person worship on Sunday at 10 a.m. in Hewitt Hall. The CDC is now advising all of New London County to wear masks indoors regardless of vaccination status.

Rev. Susan G. Latourette will lead worship with a sermon “Sighing in Relief” and scripture lessons Joel 2:21-27: Life is hard...always has been, and stress is messing with our resilience; and Matthew 6:24-34: God never leaves us to walk it alone.

The annual Festival of Lessons and Carols for Advent will be held on Sunday, Nov. 28, at 5 p.m. The service will feature choral music by the Choir of Christ Church, congregational singing of carols and hymns, and the reading of the lessons in anticipation of the birth of the Christ child. The lessons, read by parish members and lay leaders from the community, recount the ancient prophecies and the joy of Christ coming into the world. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., and childcare is provided in the nursery. A reception in the Parish Hall follows the service.
