Maggie Clukey of Westerly one of 11 student orientation leaders selected by Lasell University to welcome and guide incoming freshman in the fall.

Margaret Stahl of Westerly; Kaleigh Pasell of Bradford; John Cannella and Katya Mirsky of Stonington; and Zoe Mayhew and Michael Caster of North Stonington were local recipients of Elmira College’s Key Award. The recipients are currently in their junior year of high school or preparatory school.

Julia P. Marotto of Hope Valley received first honors; Samuel Q. Snediker of Mystic received first honors; and James P. Denman of Mystic received second honors on the dean’s list at Clark University for the spring 2021 semester.

Cameron Dreher of Pawcatuck and Sophia Anderson of Mystic were named to the dean’s list at Union College for the spring 2021 semester.

Rachel Kunka of Stonington has enrolled at the College of the Holy Cross as a member of the class of 2025.

Katjana Gora of Stonington and Laura Souza of Charlestown were named to the dean’s list at Simmons University for the spring 2021 semester.

Heidi Simmons, assistant director of nursing at Wood River Health Services, was recognized by the Rhode Island Health Center Association for playing a significant role in creating strong community relations during the COVID-19 pandemic. She was one of eight employees of Rhode Island Federally Qualified Health Centers to be recognized.

Hunter Floyd of Stonington received a Bachelor of Science in commerce and business administration from The University of Alabama.

Gabrielle Heughins and Matthew Santacroce of Pawcatuck were named to the dean’s list at Florida Institute of Technology for the spring 2021 semester.

Joan O. Vorster of Stonington was selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America in the field of medical malpractice law - defendants. Vorster is a partner in Mirick O'Connell's Litigation Group and member of the firm's management committee.

Robert Paroskie of North Kingstown received a Master of Business Administration in leadership, with honors, from Bryant University.

The following woman received 2021 Leading Women of Distinction Awards from the Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England: Sara DeCosta-Hayes, owner of R.I. Sting Girls Hockey, Olympic gold & silver medalist; Marie Ghazal, CEO of Rhode Island Free Clinic; Dr. Pamela Harrop, president, Medical Associates of Rhode Island; Hilary Levey Friedman, professor at Brown University and president of RI NOW; Eva-Marie Mancuso, managing partner of Hamel Waxler, Allen and Collins Law Offices and founder, Clothes for Kids; and Jennifer Pereira, vice president of Grant Programs at Rhode Island Foundation.

Elizabeth Ann (Betsy) Beaulieu has been appointed as vice president of academic affairs at Mitchell College. She will oversee all academic areas of the college, including Thames at Mitchell, the Bentsen Learning Center and the Mystic Program.
