Wood River Health Center, the smallest of Rhode Island’s eight federal health centers, recently opened  a new office just steps away from Westerly Hospital at 17 Wells St. The center, which serves residents from Exeter to North Stonington — including Charlestown, Richmond, Hopkinton, Westerly and Pawcatuck held an open house and ribbon cutting in June and held tours and talks.

It was a plan 10-year-long in the making and a dream come true when the doors opened to patients seeking integrated medical and behavioral health care. The new location can accommodate all the Westerly patients who currently travel to Hope Valley for their medical needs if they choose to switch from Hope Valley, said Alison Croke, president and CEO.
