Westerly High School Music Director Sarah Ferry, traveled to New York City, and New Jersey's Six Flags recently, along with 70 students from two of the high school's performing groups, to compete in Music in The Parks Festivals competitions recently.

The Marching Band, which includes Color Guard and Dance Line, came in first place within their division with a ranking of "Superior," and won the "Overall Best Marching Band" across all of the divisions with their performance of music from the "Lion King." The Concert Choir came in first place in their division for singing "Lacrimosa" from Mozart's Requiem, and other choral classics.

"The groups did quite well," Ferry said.
