Saturday, July 6, found more than 100 friends and family members from Maine to Florida together at the 2nd Baptist Church in North Stonington for the 100th birthday party for Gert Wilkinson, center Welles, center, of Old Mystic. Gert was joined by her sisters, Irene Wilkinson Johnson, 92, right, and Mary Wilkinson Barber, 90, left.

The "Girls" grew up in a family of 13 on the Daisy Dairy Farm in North Stonington delivering milk door to door in the local area.The farm was seized by eminent domain for the construction of I-95 and burned to the ground as family watched. Their house was located under the "now" Rt 49 overpass of I-95. The party was planned and organized by many relatives including Ashley Welles, Christin Rezendes, Pam Wilkinson, Donna Fallon and many others. Piano entertainment was provided by her nephew Royden Wilkinson of Norwich.
