Sally and Bruce Gray of Westerly will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 5, during a small dinner gathering of family at the Latitude 41 Restaurant in Mystic this week. The Grays were married at Westerly's Central Baptist Church on Sept. 5, 1969. They have two children; a son, Andrew Gray who is a firefighter/paramedic working at the Sub Base in New London, and a daughter, Genevieve Muller, a speech pathologist in the Westerly school department, who is married to Christopher Muller, an industrial hygienist at Mystic Air. The Grays also have two grandsons; Owen, a sophomore at Westerly High School and Mason, a fourth grader at Springbrook School. Bruce worked at Simmons University in Boston, Mass., for 25 years as a professor of neurobiology and department chair. Sally worked for several years at Cornell University, Tufts University and Mount Ida College as an administrative assistant and worked in several public school settings.
Sally and Bruce are enjoying their retirement at their beautiful home at 4 Grenolds Way. The road, Grenolds Way was named after Bruce's grandfather who was a prominent eye, ear, and nose physician in Westerly. The home they live in went through the 1938 hurricane and was restored.
