WESTERLY — Sample a delectable selection of homemade chowders Saturday in Misquamicut and help decide who will be the region's chowder champ and take home the honors at the Rotary Club of Westerly's 15th annual Chowder Cookoff.

In addition to getting to sample unlimited portions of both traditional and unique chowder concoctions from area restaurants and student culinary programs, ticket-holders can vote for their favorite offering of the day and be present for the award ceremony at the event's conclusion.

Participants include The Cooked Goose, The Sea Goose, Wilcox Tavern, Sunnyside Up, Boneyard Barbecue, Venice Restaurant, Casa della Luce, the Brazen Hen and students from the culinary programs at Westerly High School's Highland Grille, the Newport Area Career and Technical School and the Woonsocket Area Career and Technical School.

The students from Highland Grille captured first place honors for four years in a row until they were soundly defeated last year by the team from Woonsocket. The 2018 winners in the restaurant division were: Sunnyside Up, first place; Dockside B & B, second; and The Sea Goose, third.

Proceeds are used for the continuing work of the Westerly Rotary Club within the community.
