WESTERLY —  The Granite Theatre of Westerly, will be holding double auditions for Ken Ludwig’s comic mystery “The Game’s Afoot” and Alfred Uhry’s comedy/drama “The Last Night of Ballyhoo” on Sunday, Jan. 6 at 2 p.m., and Monday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m., at the theatre, on 1 Granite St.

“The Game’s Afoot” is set in December 1936 and Broadway star William Gillette, admired the world over for his leading role in the play Sherlock Holmes, has invited his fellow cast members to his Connecticut castle for a weekend of revelry.  But when one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities in this isolated house of tricks and mirrors quickly turn dangerous.  It is then up to Gillette himself, as he assumes the persona of his beloved Holmes, to track down the killer before the next victim appears.  The danger and hilarity are non-stop.

The theatre is looking for three men in the ages 25 to 50 range and four women to play characters in the 25 to 70-age range.

“The Game’s Afoot” will be directed by Vincent Lupino and is being staged from March 22 to April 7.

“The Last Night of Ballyhoo,” to be directed by David Jepson and set to be staged from April 26 – May 11, takes place in Atlanta, Ga., in December of 1939. The Freitags family is concerned with who is going to Ballyhoo, the social event of the season. Especially concerned is Beulah Levy. She is determined to have her daughter, Lala, attend Ballyhoo, believing it will be Lala's last chance to find a socially acceptable husband. But Lala encounters competition for the eligible males when her cousin comes home for the holidays. The family gets pulled apart and then mended together with plenty of comedy, romance and revelations along the way.

The following cast is needed: two men and two women 20s to 30s and one man and two women in their 40s to 50s.

All roles are open.  No appointments are necessary but auditioners are asked to bring a head shot or current photo with them at the auditions. Readings will be from the script.

All cast and crew receive stipend payments for performances.  For further information, you may contact Vincent Lupino at 401-338-3079 or David Jepson at 401-348-0555.  Directions to the theatre are available at our website www.granitetheatre.com.
