NEW LONDON — Pete and Maura Kennedy will bring their "folk-laced musical tapestry" along with "skill, surprises and sweet emotion" to the iconic Unity Hall in New London Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Friday Night Folk.
Known as The Kennedys, the pair have been touring together for more than two decades, and have "covered a broad musical landscape, surveying acoustic songwriting, organic rock, and a Byrds-inspired jangle that drew the attention of Roger McGuinn, Steve Earle, and Nanci Griffith."
East Coast natives, the two met in Austin, Texas, where they joined forces with Nanci Griffith’s Blue Moon Orchestra, and set out on a road that has led them all over the U.S. and the U.K. They two are known to "knit musical threads into a coat of many colors," with their "Buddy Holly style roots, Everly Brothers cadences, and the 12-string sound of the early Byrds intersperse with darker moments that recall British folk rock a la Fairport Convention."
