  • Wheeler earns win

    STERLING, Conn. — Ryan Condon had two goals and one assist as Wheeler Middle’s boys’ soccer team defeated Sterling Memorial School 4-0 on Wednesday.

    Condon assisted one of Nate Cherenzia’s two first-half goals as the Lions took a 2-0 lead into the break. Seth Jones assisted Cherenzia on the other.

    Condon scored unassisted in the second half and with an assist from Shawn Kinard.

    Cody Johnson stood out defensively for Wheeler (7-1), which posted its sixth shutout of the season.

    The Lions’ next game is Friday at home against Parish Hill at 4 p.m.

    WICKFORD — Kyle Wicklund made eight saves for Westerly (2-6, 2-6 Southern Division) in Tuesday afternoon’s league boys’ soccer game.

    Defender Greydon Aldrich and midfielder Brett Mayne played well for Westerly, which plays at Curtis Corner today at 3:45 p.m.
