WESTERLY — Dakota Busch achieved an unusual accomplishment, but the Westerly High girls’ tennis team lost to East Greenwich, 5-2, in a Division I-Met B girls’ tennis match Wednesday at Rotary Park.

Busch won her match 6-0, 6-0 and has now beaten the No. 1 singles player from every Division I school. Busch, who has played No. 1 singles every match in her career, is 4-0 this season and has a career record of 42-13. She has been named first-team All-State three times by the tennis coaches association.

Westerly’s other win came at No. 2 singles — Gianna Ferraro was a 6-3, 6-3 winner. Ferraro is 4-0.

East Greenwich, which has played La Salle Academy four straight years in the Division I title match, winning once, moved to 4-0 overall and in the league.

Westerly (3-1, 3-1) hosts North Kingstown on Friday at 4 p.m.
