COVENTRY — Unbeaten Feinstein scored 10 runs over the final two innings to eliminate Westerly Middle from the state softball tournament Monday with a 13-3 win.

The game was halted after five innings by the mercy rule.

Westerly (9-6) scored three runs in the top of the third to take a 3-1 lead. Feinstein answered with two runs in the bottom of the third, four in the fourth and six in the fifth.

Kate Brouillette and Maya Legare singled twice for the Bulldogs.

Starting pitcher Legare took the loss pitching into the fourth inning. She had one strikeout. Brouillette relieved her. She also had one strikeout.

The loss ends Westerly’s season. The game was the final one for coach Carla Murano, who is resigning after eight seasons.
